We are tremendously saddened to inform the community that Svetlana Boym, Curt Hugo Reisinger Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures and Comparative Literature, passed away August 5, 2015, after a year-long struggle with cancer. Interests:

Russian and Comparative Literature, culture and politics from early twentieth to the early twenty first century, literature, film and urban studies, estrangement and exile, representation of Gulag and dissent in art and politics (with special attention to the works of Vladimir Tatlin, Kazimir Malevich, Ilya Kabakov, Victor Shklovsky, Osip Mandelshtam, Marina Tsvetaeva, Joseph Brodsky, Vladimir Nabokov, Danilo Kis, Milan Kundera, Dubravka Ugresic, Andrei Sinyavsky and Varlam Shalamov). Education:

Svetlana Boym studied Hispanic languages and literatures at Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute and at Boston University and received her PhD in Comparative Literature from Harvard University.
